Rebeccah Nothdurft, a sophomore at Oran High School, and Bradley Reddick, a sophomore at Scott City High School, have recently been named Missouri Scholars by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The Missouri Scholar's Academy is a three-week academic program at the University of Missouri-Columbia campus this summer.

This academy provides unique opportunities for students to enhance their academic skills by offering classes which differ from traditional educational programs. Guest lecturers, forums, films and other events during the academy extend the existing secondary curriculum.

Tuition and expenses for the event are provided by the state of Missouri.

Nothdurft and Reddick are among 360 sophomore selected to attend from more than 600 applicants from around the state. The selection process is based on I.Q., achievement test scores, evidence of creativity, student essays and faculty recommendations.

Nothdurft is the daughter of Glenn and Susan Nothdurft.

Reddick is the son of Vivian and Gary Reddick.
