Oran, Mo., woman dies after car struck by train near Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- An Oran, Mo., woman was killed after her car was struck by a train Friday evening.

Mary J. Montgomery, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stoddard County Coroner Morgan Sifford.

Her 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was eastbound on Route Y six miles northeast of Bloomfield when it was struck by a Union Pacific locomotive, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The railroad crossing was marked by flashing lights and crossarm gates that were working properly, according to the patrol's report.
