BENTON, Mo. -- A multiagency investigation that began more than two months ago has led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Oran, Mo., man who is accused of downloading child pornography on his personal computer.
According to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department, Andrew Stroud was charged Monday with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. An investigation completed by Scott County, the Poplar Bluff Police Department and the Southeast Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force alleges Stroud downloaded videos containing child pornography.
The videos were reportedly discovered on Stroud's computer after the agencies executed a search warrant at the man's home.
"This particular type of criminal activity is more wide spread than people realize," said Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter in the department's release. "Being a member of the Cyber Crimes Task Force enables us to aggressively go after these people before it reaches a point of becoming even a more serious victim type crime."
