ORAN, Mo. ­-- An Oran man was arrested Saturday on assault and felony property damage charges, according to police.

Police allege Joshua A. Freeman, 29, slapped his girlfriend, shoved another woman, threatened a man with a baseball bat and used it to damage a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu owned by his girlfriend.

Freeman was in custody at the Scott County Jail as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday on charges of first-degree property damage, third-degree domestic assault and third-degree assault, according to a news release from the Scott County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies Matt Scroggins and Danny Finley responded about 1:50 p.m. Saturday to a report of a disturbance at the Freeman residence, according to the news release.

Police say Freeman admitted to the vehicle damage, estimated at $1,200, according to police.

Online court records show that Freeman has prior criminal offenses.

In 2006, Freeman was sentenced to one year of probation and a $150 fine after pleading guilty to Mississippi County charges of hindering prosecution and purchasing or possession of liquor by a minor.

In 2013, Freeman was fined after pleading guilty to Scott County charges of driving with a revoked or suspended license, failure to register a motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt and operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility.

Freeman's bond has been set at $7,500 cash or surety, according to the news release.
