Openings remain for the June 8 and 17 beginning Internet classes offered by the Southeast Missourian web staff.
The June 8 class will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Dempster Hall on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. On June 17, the class will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The university is a co-sponsor of the community training class.
The class is geared to beginners who want to learn more about the Internet and World Wide Web. Practical surfing tips will be offered along with a number of informational tip sheets.
Individuals interested in taking the class should call Joni Adams or Peggy Scott at 335-6611 to register. Payment of $10 must be made before the class starts and can be mailed or brought to the newspaper office at 301 Broadway.
The class draws from a large region. For example, recent attendees came from Benton, Sikeston, Marble Hill, Wyatt, Farmington, Ste. Genevieve, and Miller City and McClure in Illinois.
Staff members from SEMissourian.com, the Web site of the Southeast Missourian, will be on hand to direct students.
Each class is limited to 38 people, and each student will be provided a computer.
July and August classes will be scheduled if enough people are interested.
