A shipment of flu vaccine for the Cape Girardeau County Health Department has been delayed and has forced the postponement of flu shot clinics until 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Charlotte Craig, director of the health department, said the shipment of 6,000 doses of flu vaccine was scheduled to arrive here Tuesday morning. However, a mix up at the distribution company delayed delivery, Craig said.
Once the shipment gets here, Craig said, there should be an adequate supply of the vaccine for the clinics, which are held 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 weekdays at the county health center, 1121 Linden.
There are no out-of-pocket expenses for flu and pneumonia vaccinations at the health department for people with a Medicare or Medicaid card. Cost for others is $5 for the flu vaccination, $10 for pneumonia vaccination.
