The new facility, situated at Cape West Business Park, processes all mail from four zip code areas.

When the center opened in November, it sorted all incoming and outbound mail for two zip codes Cape Girardeau and Sikeston. "The center expanded to full operation in February," said Shafer. "It now processes the mail from Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, Poplar Bluff and Flat River areas."

Shafer said the center handles about a half-million pieces of mail each day.
