A man went into insulin shock Monday afternoon, resulting in a car accident that sent him to a Cape Girardeau hospital. Sgt. Kevin Orr of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said that at 1:42 p.m. a man driving a Buick Regal was traveling southbound on North Kingshighway near Ford Groves and went into insulin shock. Orr said the driver hit a pole and ran off the roadway. He then returned to the roadway, left it again and struck a mailbox, utility pole, power pedestal and embankment before the car went airborne. The man was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center. His injuries, name and city of residence were unknown. Orr said no one else was injured and the accident did not block traffic.
