A man involved in an incident at a Cape Girardeau house party in May that put one person in the hospital with stab wounds pleaded guilty to assault Tuesday.
Kollin Payne, 22, pleaded guilty to a third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, in Cape Girardeau Circuit Court. He was originally charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and had pleaded not guilty in May. He will be sentenced Nov. 14.
Payne was one of three men arrested in connection with a May 3 house party incident. Payne, Kemond Hollis of Ullin, Ill., and Brandin Rowe of Jonesboro, Ill., allegedly attacked four others at a house party in the 300 block of North Pacific Street.
Three men received minor injuries and one man was stabbed, although his injuries were not life-threatening.
According to police, Payne, Hollis and Rowe entered the party uninvited and injured the four men with a knife. When the three were stopped by police while fleeing the scene, Rowe had a knife and blood on his shirt, according to police reports.
Rowe pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree assault. He has a pretrial conference set for Oct. 31 and a trial set for Nov. 3.
Hollis pleaded not guilty to hindering prosecution. His trial is set to begin Nov. 3.
