POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- One man died and another one was seriously injured when two all-terrain vehicles collided at 1 a.m. Saturday in western Butler County.
David L. Campbell, 46, of Poplar Bluff, was pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Deputy Coroner Joe Chapman.
Richard T. McArthur, 30, of Poplar Bluff was transported in an Air Evac helicopter to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment of serious injuries.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both men were traveling north on Butler County Road 451 northeast of Stringtown.
Campbell's 2003 Honda ATV struck the rear of McArthur's 1986 Honda ATV, ejecting both men, according to the report.
Campbell is the 43rd traffic fatality in the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Troop E region, covering Southeast Missouri, this year.
