A single-car crash Thursday morning sent one man to a hospital with minor injuries and backed up traffic on a Cape Girardeau street.
Traffic backed up on Lombardo Drive to Cape Rock Drive and along North Clark Avenue after an accident on North Clark Avenue blocked the roadway.
Police spokesman Darin Hickey said a 58-year-old man, later listed on a police call summary as Lawrence A. Brookins of Cape Girardeau, was traveling south on North Clark Avenue toward Broadway, when he swerved to avoid vehicles that were stopped in the road. He did not strike the vehicles, but ran off the road onto an electrical pole guy wire, causing his car to roll over.
Cape Girardeau firefighters extricated Brookins from his vehicle. He received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
