DUTCHTOWN -- A Sikeston man died and four teen-agers were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday night.
Killed was Ulys Lane, 70, of Sikeston.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Highways 25 and 74, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
About 7:35 p.m., a westbound 1996 Chevrolet driven by Raymond E. Doan, 16, of Bernie failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, police said. Doan's vehicle, which was traveling west on Highway 74, struck Lane's 1994 Buick, which was northbound on Highway 25.
Doan suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center. Lane was also transported by helicopter to St. Francis, where he later died.
Three passengers in Doan's vehicle were also injured and were transported by ambulance to St. Francis.
Christopher Arnold, 15, of Dexter suffered serious injuries. Bryan McMullin, 16, of Bernie suffered moderate injuries. Derek Smith, 16, also of Bernie suffered minor injuries.
No further information was available on Doan's condition Thursday. Smith and Arnold were both listed in satisfactory condition Thursday, and McMullin was listed in stable condition.
Neither the two drivers nor any of the passengers wore seatbelts, according to the highway patrol.
