One block of Keller Street, between Independence and Whitener streets, will be closed today part of the Independence Street reconstruction.
The street will reopen in 30 days, weather permitting.
Homeowners on Keller Street will have an alternate access, according to Ken Eftink, director of development services for the city of Cape Girardeau.
On Friday, the stretch of Independence Street between West End Boulevard and Louisiana Street will reopen to traffic.
Fronabarger Concreters is renovating Independence Street for the city. The work is funded by the Transportation Trust Fund II.
Businesses along the construction route remain open and access to them is provided. For more information or to make comments about the project, call the city's engineering division at 334-9020.
