This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think about Jo Ann Emerson running for the U.S. House Representatives?"

"I think it's a good thing. I am for Emerson. I think that it would be good. She knows Washington...she knows his (Bill Emerson's) policies. I think she should."

Margruett Taylor, Cape Girardeau

"I'm not for it. I just think there are others and I don't mean to be partial to men but, I think there are others that are more capable."

Libby Robinson, Patton

"I think it is good. I think she is qualified because...I think she did a lot for her husband...I think she knows from picking it up from him. She knew a lot about what he did. So I think she could do a lot. I don't really know about the other candidates."

Bill Lewis, Cape Girardeau

"I feel like there are some Republican candidates from the area that have lived here most of their lives that would probably be as well qualified to run for the office as she is, and I feel like I would rather see one of them run than her."

"I think she has every right to and if she has the same views as her husband I'd be much in favor of it."
