This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think of Cape Girardeau's tornado warning system?"

"I think it is a great thing to have if they would have the sirens. But what they do now is OK, I guess."

"What we have is good now, but sirens would be better."

"Well, they ain't got none (sirens) and they need it. We need sirens."

"It would be great to have sirens. I was out driving around in the county and I could hear it on the radio (a storm warning) that it was somewhere, but I didn't know where, and the closer I got to Cape the worse it looked. I didn't know if I was driving straight into it or not."

"Well, since I've never had to live anywhere near where there are tornadoes I have nothing to compare it to. I think the (present) warning system has given me enough notice to get in my basement. I listen to the radio. I suppose the siren would be more feasible."
