ON THE STREET

The current minimum wage in Missouri is $4.25 per hour. A bill was introduced to raise the minimum wage to $6.25. The Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think the Missouri minimum wage should be?"

"I think it should be raised. I think that ($6.25) is a little too high. I think about halfway between (current wage) and there, $5.50.

"I think it should be $6.25 ... When I hear minimum wage I feel that at least a minimum standard of living on it ... $4.25 is not good enough right now to live off of. It really isn't."
