This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "When do you think merchants should begin displaying Christmas items?"
Brent Karpeck, Cape Girardeau
"I'd say sometime after Halloween. Let Halloween pass and let everyone get used to the fact that colder weather is on the way."
Minnie Lewis, Cape Girardeau
"Between the last of October and the first of November because I think it would be a good time for people to celebrate Halloween ... to get that over with and then start celebrating Christmas."
Kilja Israel, Cape Girardeau
"After Thanksgiving. Because I'm not in the mood for Christmas until after Thanksgiving."
Jo Ann Hunter, East Cape Girardeau, Ill.
"Not as quickly as they have been. I think it's displayed entirely too soon. I'd say maybe the beginning of November certainly not at the end of September."
Altha Robinson, Cape Girardeau
"All I know is I think they do it much too soon now. I'd say at least after Halloween. It doesn't give us much time. I'm also thinking we should do Thanksgiving things at least first. I never see Thanksgiving things. I would say at least around the first of November."
