This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "Do you think Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols will get a fair trial?"
Bettie Gunn, Cape Girardeau
"I sure do. I think they got to select their jury and everything and they should be pretty sharp with a big trial like this of who they're going to pick ... where the people's minds aren't made up and they can see what's going on. I think he'll get a fair one."
Rebecca Nix, Charleston
"Yes. I just feel like people that get picked for jurors will do their job correctly."
Scott Owen, Cape Girardeau
"Possibly. I think a lot of people will think about loved ones who were killed. I don't think they will get a really, really fair trial."
Ken Whitehorn, Cape Girardeau
"Yes, I do think they will get a fair trial if they get the proper jury selected. You have to find the people that are impartial that will think open-mindedly ... instead of going in with a negative attitude ... go in open-minded. That's the only way he will get a fair trial. The trial will be fair. Now whether he did it that's up for them (the jury) to decide."
Scott Kelley, Cape Girardeau
"I do think he'll get a fair trial. I believe the process they are going through is as good as any and I feel that the news media have a tendency to think that they're taking maybe a little long on choosing a jury, but I think that's probably a necessary process."
