This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think about the Teamsters' strike against UPS?"
Gene King, Jackson
"I feel UPS would be a hectic place to work and they should get equal pay for equal work. UPS can go on strike and do what they want. I'm all for that."
Jennifer Rogers, Nashville, Tenn.
"I think that it's wrong. Most people in our country don't get the opportunity to tell their boss what to do, to tell their company what to do. They (the Teamsters) should be thankful for their job, and I think it's wrong because the average citizen doesn't get to belong to a union. They have to take what they get from their company, and I think it's wrong. I'm for UPS."
Sheila Cox, East Prairie
"I do not think the strike is right. I think that they should be thankful for their jobs. I don't think strikes are right when it involves the public."
Joan Walter, Cape Girardeau
"I think they have every right to strike. I don't ever ship anything so it hasn't affected me one way or the other."
George Pruitt, Cape Girardeau
"I say go for it. They've been talking long enough and the talks seem to fail, so it's time for further action."
Today's Prayer from Monday, Aug. 11
Protect those who work on our streets and roads, O God, and help us to be thankful for their labor. Amen.
