This week the Southeast Missourian asked, "What do you think of the proposed eagle mascot for Southeast Missouri State University?"
Amanda Keates, Cape Girardeau
"I think they're kind of childish. They're cartoon figures. They don't portray any Southeast strength or whatnot."
Matt Reno, Cape Girardeau
"That one's cool (the third eagle). I guess they have to have something if they can't have the Indian."
Izabela Slowikowska, Cape Girardeau
"This is not a eagle. This one (the third eagle with the football) is more toward the football team which is not very strong or the university, I guess. It doesn't look like an eagle. I don't like it. Something more creative. They shouldn't wear this like some football stuff or be associated with any sport. It shouldn't be associated with any of the sports and should represent all of the university."
Kati Thompson, Cape Girardeau
"The classy guy. (The first eagle with the top hat.) He needs like maybe a little more sports oriented."
Paul Dunnavant, Cape Girardeau
"I like the one with the hat. (The first eagle with the top hat.) He's just different. I don't know...sophisticated. He's kind of cute."
