The Southeast Missourian asked students at St. Paul Lutheran School about the 1998 World Series with the Yankees and Padres.
Alex Jauch: "I am hoping that the Padres will win. With Tony Gwynn and all the other good players, I think that they will win it. They should do better now that they are playing at home."
Emily McDonald: "I watched the first game with my mom, and it was really good. I am rooting for the Padres. I think it's how you play the game that matters, and not so much whether a team plays at home."
Courtney Klob: "I have been watching the games with my mom and dad, and we're rooting for the Padres. I think the Padres will come back and start winning now."
Jason Littleton: "I've watched the games with my dad. I think the Yankees are going to win the World Series. I don't really have a favorite team, because the Cardinals are not playing in the World Series."
Tyler Holman: "I think the Padres are going to win the World Series. They beat the Braves, and I think they can beat the Yankees too. My favorite player is Tony Gwynn. He's good in tough situations."
