A head-on collision in Pulaski County Tuesday morning put an Olmstead man in Southeast Missouri Hospital with chest and arm injuries.
According to the Illinois State Police, Randy Livesay was driving his car north on Mikkan Road at 8:30 a.m. climbing a steep hill three miles west of Illinois Route 37 near Olmstead when it collided with a southbound car driven by Marita Garrett of Villa Ridge near the crest of the hill.
"All I remember is getting to the hill, her topping it and swerving, and bang, and waking up later with nobody around and blood all around," Livesay said from his hospital bed Tuesday night.
He said a friend of his happened to show up and called for help. A helicopter took him to Southeast Missouri Hospital, Livesay said.
Garrett and her two children, Michael, 4, and Brittany, 10, were taken to Southeast Hospital as well, according to the Illinois State Police. The Garretts were treated and released.
Livesay said the impact broke all three long bones in his left arm and bruised his sternum. He expected to undergo surgery today.
