The 13th annual Older American Health Fair will be held Oct. 5 at St. Francis Medical Center's Health and Education Centre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Health Fair is an opportunity for people 60 and older to participate in a variety of preventive medical screening tests free of charge.
Health screenings for the fair will include blood pressure, hearing and vision screening, foot screening, dental screening, diabetic screening and blood testing.
Individuals who take the blood test should not eat for at least six hours before the testing. Orange juice will be provided after the test, but because there could be long waiting before all the screening tests participants who feel they might need something to eat, are encouraged to bring along a snack.
Colon cancer screening kits will be provided and the volunteers handing out the kits will be able to answer questions about the use of the kits.
The fair is being co-sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging, the American Red Cross and the St. Francis Medical Center.
