The Local Records Preservation Program of the Missouri State Archives is compiling a school records computer inventory of school board minutes, enumeration lists and teacher record books from the one- and two-room schools in Cape Girardeau County.
The main repositories for these records have been contacted and their materials have been inventoried. They are now searching for private individuals who have these records so that they can include them in the inventory.
If anyone has old school records, please call 651-0028 and leave a message on the recorder for Jane. Give your name and telephone number and she will contact you as soon as possible. She will examine the books and include that information in the inventory.
The complete inventory will be placed in the repositories and local county libraries for use by the public.
