Fronabarger Concreters Inc. plans to start construction Tuesday on phase three of the South Old Orchard Road Improvement Project, according to a news release from the city of Jackson.
Jackson officials held a conference with the contractor, engineers and utilities Thursday to finalize plans.
The outer road project extends from East Main Street to the Bainbridge Road Bridge over Williams Creek in Jackson and was awarded to Fronabarger Concreters Inc. of Oak Ridge for $1.5 million.
The work includes clearing, box culverts, earthwork, storm-water control, erosion control, water lines and the concrete paving of a new three-lane pavement. Traffic signals will also be installed at the East Main Street intersection to help accommodate drivers making turns on and off the new arterial roadway.
The work is expected to finished by the end of the year. Officials said portions of Bainbridge Road will be closed at times to all but local traffic during the project.
