MARSHFIELD, Mo. -- An Oklahoma woman was charged Thursday with second-degree manslaughter in the death of a state trooper struck on the highway earlier this month.
Wendye Chesher, 29, of Arkoma, Okla., was charged with a single county of involuntary manslaughter in the Aug. 17 death of Cpl. John Sampietro Jr.
The officer was struck while doing an accident reconstruction report at the scene of a crash that left two adults and two children dead.
A probable cause statement claims Chesher was at fault because she failed to yield to an emergency vehicle, failed to slow down, and failed to follow an officer's directions.
It was not known if Chesher had obtained a attorney.
A message left at her home was not immediately returned.
