Officials - Prison inmate has active tuberculosis

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- An inmate assigned to Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston, Mo., has been diagnosed with active tuberculosis, according to prison officials. He is currently receiving appropriate medical care in respiratory isolation. As a precaution, the facility will test the entire inmate population and any requesting staff members beginning today. Testing of all staff and targeted offenders at Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre, Mo., will also begin. The offender was housed at Bonne Terre from Aug. 6 to Sept. 2 prior to transfer to Charleston.
