Donald E. Hammond

MILL CREEK, Ill. -- Donald E. Hammond, 54, of Mill Creek died Friday, July 25, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo..

He was born March 6, 1943, in DuQuoin, Ill., the son of John Thomas and Mary L. Lang Hammond. He married Leona M. Hammond of Anna. She survives.

Survivors include a daughter, Pashia Hammond of Goreville, Ill.; two sons, Thomas L. Hammond of Mill Creek and Roger Dale Cannon Jr. of Anna; his mother, Mary L. Dixon of Dongola; a stepfather, Sidney Dixon of Shirley, Ill.; five stepchildren including Romona Mills of Anna; three sisters, Elaine Heisner of Fenton, Ill., Mary Batson of Anna and Carroll Pierce of Alabama; six brothers, Tom Hammond of Houston, Texas, Ron Hammond of Branson, Mo., Jerry Bracken and Darrell Bracken, both of Dongola, Floyd Dixon of Cape Girardeau, and Kenny Dixon of Anna; and 28 grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. Monday at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

A private interment will be held at a later date.
