Funeral service for Cecil Earl Eakins, 1507 N. Henderson, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Jordan officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum, with services by VFW Post 3838.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-9 p.m. today.

Eakins, 73, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Sept. 5, 1923, at Holcomb, son of Edward and Zelma Summers Eakins. He and Margie L. Casteel were married March 31, 1943, at Jackson.

Eakins owned and operated Eakins Heating and Air Conditioning 35 years. He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Disabled American Veterans, VFW, and American Legion. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Saundra Draper, Delores Enderle and LaDonna Ruebel, all of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Claude Eakins of Wisconsin, Scott Eakins of Arkansas; seven sisters, Erma Ellinger and Monola Senn of Scott City, Vergie Kies of Cape Girardeau, Hazel Hennecke and Rosie Dreyer of Jackson, Oma Clark of Illinois, Lou Fiegel of Arkansas; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

JACKSON -- Memorial service for Adrian J. Meyer of Las Vegas, Nev., will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Stanton-Wood Mortuary in Ste. Genevieve. Burial will be in Valle Spring Catholic Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve.

Meyer, 50, died Thursday, July 17, 1997, at his home.

He was born Jan. 8, 1947, at Ozora, son of Hillary and Dorothy Brown Meyer. He and Darlene Shadwick were married Feb. 14, 1969, in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Collette Breese of Jackson; three sons, James Meyer of Ash Grove, Brian Meyer of Jackson, Adrian Meyer of Las Vegas; his mother of Las Vegas; four brothers, Stephen Meyer of San Antonio, Texas, Orvil Meyer of Cape Girardeau, Dennis Meyer of Granite City, Ill., Augustus Meyer of Kalispell, Mont.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

The infant was stillborn Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Survivors include her parents, Deanna Vaughn and Gary Dodd of Cape Girardeau; maternal grandfather, Danny Vaughn of Charleston; maternal great-grandmother, Betty McDaniel of Tamms; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dodd of Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 1, 1936, in St. Louis, daughter of Matthew and Helen Fruehwirth Truska. She and Lester T. Sladek were married July 17, 1954, in East St. Louis, Ill.

The Sladeks moved to Jackson in 1970 from St. Louis.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Charles Sladek of Chaffee, Lester Sladek Jr. of Gordonville, Thomas Sladek of Fruitland; four daughters, Pauline Niswonger and Elizabeth Sneed of Jackson, Susan Weisbrod of Festus, Marie Vitek of Dexter; five brothers, Richard and Donald Truska of Farmington, Kenneth Truska of Fredericktown, Matthew Truska of San Diego, Calif., Steven Truska of Imperial; a sister, Katherine Schmidt of St. Louis; and 15 grandchildren.

Thelma DeGarmore

ANNA, Ill. -- Thelma DeGarmore, 94, of Anna died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, at City Care Center in Cobden.

She was born Aug. 26, 1902, in Jonesboro, daughter of Charles P. and Mary B. Axley Smith. She and Edward DeGarmore were married June 8, 1932. He died May 18, 1965.

DeGarmore lived in Chicago all her married life, and had worked at Bethlehem Steel Co. She returned to Anna in 1965. She was a member of First Baptist Church and its Golden Rule Sunday School Class, and Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two nephews, Louis McDaniel Jr. of Pinckneyville and Robert McDaniel of Bloomington, Ind.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Emma Ferguson

ANNA, Ill. -- Emma Dillman Ferguson, 82, of Anna died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at Union County Hospital.

She was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Anna, daughter of Rudolph and Myrtle Wilson Webb. She married Loren Dillman Aug. 13, 1933. He died in 1976. She and Oliver DeWitt Ferguson were married Sept. 24, 1977, in Anna. He died May 25, 1984.

Ferguson was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Larry Dillman of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; six daughters, Ferry Hopkins of Brighton, Juanita Cauble of Jonesboro, Colleen Langendoerfer of Colorado Springs, Colo., Marcella Copeland of Pontotoc, Miss., Kathryn Hanney of Anna, Rebecca Dillman of Rochelle; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola.

ADVANCE -- Billy D. Westbrook Sr., 58, of Cortez, Colo., died Saturday, July 19, 1997, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez.

He was born March 26, 1939, in Advance, son of Frank and May Williams Westbrook. He married the former Evonna Antoff.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Adam Westbrook of Cortez, Billy Westbrook Jr. of Kissee Mills, Mark Westbrook of Puxico; two daughters, Cristina Westbrook of Theodosia, and Larissa Mell of Piedmont.

He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Westbrook of Advance, Frankie Westbrook of Poplar Bluff; five sisters, Barbara Westbrook and Anabelle Copman of Advance, Lucille Westbrook of Farmington, Rose Westbrook and Helen Adair of St. Louis; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Morgan Funeral Home.
