Obama makes quick stop in K.C. suburb

PARKVILLE, Mo. -- Residents of the Kansas City suburb of Parkville got a surprise when President Barack Obama stopped at a coffee shop and paid the tabs for a handful of patrons. Obama and his entourage of security, aides and the press pool filed into Parkville Coffee in the small Missouri River town on their way to the airport Wednesday following the president's speech in Kansas City. Obama chatted with people sitting on a bench outside, then joined patrons inside as nearby storefronts filled with people watching and waving. The president ordered iced tea, tested other beverages in small cups and talked to employees. Obama offered to pay for all the patrons' drinks, and a few took him up, putting the president on the spot for five coffee refills and a chai tea.
