Cape LaCroix (C.G.C.C), a nursing center located off Route W in Cape Girardeau, is undergoing a three-phase renovation. Administrator Katherine M. Lane said Capaha Construction Co. of Cape Girardeau is general contractor.
"Stage one should be done in six weeks," she said. "It includes the lobby, reception area, dining room, offices and entrance way." The reception area was moved and an office was added for the marketing and admissions director. An open house will be held when the $70,000 project is completed.
The second stage will remodel the corridors, nurses stations and day rooms and should take about two months to finish. The last phase will cover the rest of the facility, including the residents' rooms.
Cape Girardeau Care Center Inc., which is based in St. Louis, owns the facility. Americare Management Systems Inc. of Sikeston manages it. It currently has 76 residents and a total of 126 beds.
