Eight Notre Dame seniors, about 15 percent of the senior class, have received Missouri Higher Education Academic scholarships, commonly knows as Bright Flight scholarships.
Robert Dodson Jr., Mike Gamel, Deborah Jansen, Chris Kuntz, Jeff Maurer, Todd Nenninger, Terrence Wells and Danna Westrich qualified for the $2,000 renewable scholarship.
Dodson is the son of Kimberlee and Robert Dodson of Scott City. He plans to study aerospace engineering or nuclear physics at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Gamel, son of Emma and Calvin "Skip" Gamel of Cape Girardeau, plans to study pre-law at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Jansen is the daughter of Mary Jane and Martin Jansen of Kelso. She will attend Southeast Missouri State University but has not decided a major.
Kuntz is the son of Gabriela and Edwin Kuntz of Cape Girardeau. He will be studying engineering at the University of Missouri-Rolla.
Maurer is the son of Teresa and Jim Maurer of Cape Girardeau. He plans to study medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
Nenninger is the son of Charlotte Nenninger of Jackson and Clyde Nenninger Jr. of Cape Girardeau. He will study medicine at St. Louis University.
Wells, son of LaVerne and John Wells of Cape Girardeau, plans to study pre-law at St. Louis University.
Westrich is the daughter of Vickie and Kenneth Westrich of Kelso. She plans to study secondary education at Southeast Missouri State University.
