No one was injured when a garbage truck caught on fire in south Cape Girardeau late Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded about 11:45 a.m. to a call of a vehicle fire in the lot at 900 S. Kingshighway, next to Cape Tractor Trailer Supply, battalion chief Mark Starnes said.

The blaze destroyed one garbage truck and damaged two others that were parked nearby. Starnes said 12 firefighters in four fire trucks responded to the incident and brought the blaze under control in about nine minutes.

The cause of the fire was unknown Sunday.
