PERRYVILLE, Mo.-- No one was injured, and one person was taken into custody after the Perryville Police Department responded to a bomb threat Thursday at the McDonald's restaurant in Perryville, according to police.

Police responded to a call from a McDonald's employee at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the department.

A person in the restaurant said something about "blowing our heads off" while sitting at a table in the restaurant with a large backpack, the release stated. The suspect did not remember mentioning the word "bomb" when questioned later by police and the FBI, according to the release.

The restaurant and a MotoMart gas station nearby were evacuated, according to the release. Officers called in the Southeast Missouri Regional Bomb Squad, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Perry County Sheriff's Department.

The bomb squad X-rayed the backpack to determine whether there was a device inside, but there wasn't, the release stated.

Police found a suspect with a "large military style ruck sack in the restaurant," according to the release. Perryville Police Chief Direk Hunt said a person was taken into custody in connection with the threat but will not be charged.
