BENTON, Mo. -- A late morning fire scare led school officials to evacuate Kelly High School.

According to Fara Jones, assistant superintendent, smoke was noticed coming from the high school gym ceiling. Students were ushered from the building, and firefighters were on the scene.

Jones said students were going back to class as of noon Tuesday.

The smoke was coming from an air conditioning unit on top of the gym, Jones said, and maintenance crews worked on it.

She said everything was fine at the school and no one was injured.
