Jackson firefighters were able to contain a house fire on Donald street in about 10 minutes Thursday.

A resident called 911 shortly before 8 p.m. and firefighters were on the scene for approximately an hour, according to Capt. Ryan Davie of the Jackson Fire Department.

The fire started in an upstairs bedroom and the contents of two bedrooms on the upper level of the house were "a total loss," Davie said. Fire and water damage was extensive, he said, but a cost estimate was not available. There was no smoke or water damage on the first floor of the house.
