Investigators said the eastbound school bus, driven by W. L. Voges of Jackson, had stopped in front of a house to pick up two students when his bus was struck in the rear by a pickup truck driven by Randall McClanahan, 28, of Whitewater. There were six students on the bus when the accident occurred.

The patrol said McClanahan came over the crest of a hill and was blinded by the early morning sun. McClanahan was issued a summons for careless and imprudent driving.

Jean Kurre, student transportation coordinator for the Jackson School District, said damage to the school bus was limited to the rear bumper. She said the bus continued on its morning route to school. The pickup truck received extensive damage to the front end and was towed away.
