No one was injured, no damage was found, and no weapon was recovered after someone reported hearing gunfire early Friday morning in Cape Girardeau, police said.
About 2:15 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of Cape Meadows Circle, said Darin Hickey, public information officer for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Officers found two vehicles at the scene, and witnesses in the vehicles said they had heard the shots but didn't know anything about them, Hickey said.
After the cars left, officers observed them in the 500 block of North Fountain Street, where they heard more shots and made contact with four occupants of a vehicle that was leaving, Hickey said.
Officers arrested two of the occupants -- one on a warrant for failure to appear for a misdemeanor charge and one on an unrelated drug charge, Hickey said.
No one was hurt, and officers found no weapon and no damage, Hickey said.
He said officers are investigating the case, which appears to be unrelated to a Wednesday afternoon case in which someone fired a bullet into a home at 403 S. Hanover St.
No one was injured in that case, either.
