A home, vehicle and garage were struck by gunfire in two separate Cape Girardeau shootings Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
No one was injured in either shooting, and police were investigating whether they were related.
The first shooting occurred at 7:57 p.m. Tuesday at Good Hope and Hanover streets when witnesses reported seeing a man walking down the street firing a handgun, Cpl. Ike Hammonds said.
A couple of windows at a home at the intersection were shot out, but no shell casings were recovered from the scene, according to Hammonds.
In the second shooting, two men reportedly climbed out of a vehicle carrying two others in the 3100 block of Mimosa Drive at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The two men outside of the vehicle fired shots at another vehicle and a garage before fleeing the scene, Hammonds said.
The vehicle was struck once in the front windshield and twice in the rear window, and the garage had four bullet holes, Hammonds said. No one was inside the second vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses saw the two gunmen carrying handguns, but they did not know the caliber of the weapons, Hammonds said. Like the Tuesday night shooting, no shell casings were found at the scene, he said.
The vehicle was described as having Illinois license plates, but additional details were not released, Hammonds said.
Police were looking for additional witnesses in hopes of finding the suspects, whose identities were not known.
"We're hoping someone knows something," Hammonds said.
"Unfortunately, if this keeps up, someone's going to be injured or killed out there."
