A 29-year-old Nebraska woman who Cape Girardeau police allege caused an accident that injured five children Tuesday has yet to be charged.
The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau when the woman overcorrected after getting too close to a semitrailer and rolled her Honda Pilot several times. All five children -- ages 1, 4, 7, 10 and 11 -- were ejected; none were wearing seat belts or in other child restraints, according to authorities. Officer Darin Hickey, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department, said the officer who responded to the accident didn't complete paperwork in time to apply for charges Thursday. The department is preparing to apply for charges but didn't say Thursday what they would be.
