Nixon picks former aide to lead Mo. parks division
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon has picked his top technology official to head the state parks division in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon has picked his top technology official to head the state parks division in the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Bill Bryan also gained the title of DNR deputy director with Monday's appointment. He is a lawyer who has been serving as the state's chief information officer.
When Nixon was Missouri attorney general, Bryan was Nixon's deputy chief counsel for environmental protection in that office.

He was the lead attorney in the state's lawsuit against St. Louis-based Ameren over the collapse of the utility's Taum Sauk reservoir in Southeast Missouri.
The breach of the hilltop reservoir sent more than a billion gallons of water into a state park.
Nixon touted Bryan's environmental credentials in announcing the DNR appointment, including an award more than a decade ago from the Sierra Club.
