ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon says a new jobs program for young people will both help state parks and provide 1,000 summer jobs.
Nixon announced details of the State Parks Youth Corps program on Thursday at Babler State Park in St. Louis County.
The program will provide summer employment for Missourians ages 17 to 24. Nixon says it will also help the state's 85 state parks and historic sites.
Nixon says those interested can apply online for one of about 1,000 federally funded positions that will be available between May 1 and Sept. 30.
