MAROA, Ill. -- The fire department in the small central Illinois city of Maroa has enough people to cover the day shift again after nine firefighters were reinstated.
The Maroa Countryside Fire Protection District board also decided not to reappoint chief Larry Peasley when his term ends in May.
Board president Tom Rogers said Tuesday that members felt it was time for a leadership change.
The volunteer firefighters resigned last month over concerns of the quality of training and confidence in Peasley's leadership.
Peasley has said the department's hands-on training was comparable to other departments. He said a difference of opinion is expected in any leadership situation.
