CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Due to freezing rain, sleet and ice, nearly all area schools will be closed today.

Much of the southern part of the state is still feeling the effects of Sunday's freezing rain and sleet.

Following is a list of schools that have cancelled classes for today:

Cape Girardeau Public Schools, Notre Dame High School, St. Vincent's Grade School, Jackson R-2 Public Schools, Immaculate Conception in Jackson, St. Paul Lutheran in Jackson, Metro Business College, Easter Seals Early Learning Center, Cape Christian School, Scott City Public Schools, Chaffee Public Schools, St. Mary's in Cape Girardeau, Nell Holcomb R-4, Woodland, Zalma R-5, Scott County R-3, Meadow Heights, and Leopold R-3.

Other schools closed are: Oak Ridge, Perry County School District #32, Immanuel Lutheran-Perryville, St. Vincent's Grade and High Schools-Perryville, Altenburg Public Schools, Delta R-5, Ste. Genevieve Public Schools, Anna-Jonesboro Public Schools, St. Denis in Benton, St. Augustine in Kelso, St. Ambrose School in Chaffee, and Marquand R-6, Marble Hill Christian Academy, Shawnee School District.
