The Missouri Highway Patrol said the driver of the pickup, Lawson Burgfeld of Jackson, was taken to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau with moderate injuries.

The semi-truck driver, Michael Humphreys of Boliver, was not injured.

Investigators said Burgfeld's pickup was rounding a curve, southbound, on Highway 61 just as the semi-truck was attempting to make a left turn from the southbound interstate off-ramp to go north on Highway 61.
