FREDERICKTOWN - Former Madison County prosecuting attorney John W. Reid II was killed Monday when the car he was driving collided head-on with a truck on Highway 67, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

Patrol Cpl. J.S. Daniel said Reid was en route to a Rotary club meeting at Cherokee Pass when the accident occurred at 6:15 p.m. a mile south of Fredericktown.

Daniel said Reid's southbound car crossed the centerline and collided with a truck driven by Gregory Riddle, 40, of Bridgeton. He said the truck went down an embankment and struck a tree. Riddle was not injured.
