Newsboys, 38 Special among SEMO District Fair lineup

The theme and performance lineup for the 2015 SEMO District Fair was announced Wednesday.

The fair reaches a location milestone this year, which is recognized in the theme "We Have a Good Thing Growing -- 75 years at Arena Park."

Marking the fair's opening Sept 12 is the annual fair parade. It begins at 9:30 a.m. at Capaha Park.

At the fair, "Agriland," introduced last year, continues with interactive displays and an education theme of "More to Food Than a Grocery Store."

A special promotion, "Two for Tuesday," will be offered Sept. 15, and a new addition, "Thrifty Thursday," will feature discounts on entry, carnival rides and fair foods Sept. 17.

For the grandstand entertainment, crowds can expect past favorites such as the demolition derby and performances from rock, Christian and country artists. The lineup for the grandstand includes:

• Auto Tire & Parts Dual Demolition Derby at 7 p.m. Sept. 12;
• Mouser Steel Heartland Barrel Racing at 1 p.m. Sept. 13;
• Southern rock band 38 Special at 8 p.m. Sept. 14;
• Contemporary Christian band The Newsboys, presented by KHIS Radio 107.9 at 7 p.m. Sept. 15;
• 15th annual Heartland Idol by River Radio Group at 7 p.m. Sept. 16;
• Pop country duo Dan + Shay at 8 p.m. Sept. 17; and
• ITPA/Bootheel Pullers Hot Rod Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 and 19.
