Children with diabetes are invited to take part in summer fun at a day camp designed to help them learn to better cope with their disease.
Camp DAY (Diabetes and Youth) Break will be held Aug. 12 and 13 at Southeast Missouri Hospital's Main Street Family Fitness Center in Jackson. The camp is co-sponsored by the hospital and the Southeast Area Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
Open to children between 6 and 12, typical day camp activities will be structured around learning how to deal with diabetes on a day to day basis. Activities will include crafts, line dancing and learning to make good food choices.
Enrollment is open through July 16. Fee for the two-day session is $35 for the first child, and $30 for a second child. A limited number of camperships are also available.
