Marine Pvt. Joseph J. Thomas has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Cal.
Thomas is the son of Cindy E. Fisk of Jackson. He is a 1994 graduate of Jackson High School.
The 11 weeks of training is designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.
Thomas began training at 5 a.m. In addition to physical training, thomas spent time in the classroom as well.
Thomas joins 41,000 men and women who will enter the MArine Corps this year from around the country.
