Mr. and Mrs. C have shared 55 years of marriage: the rocky start, the growing pains and now the golden years.
However, the year hasn't sparkled. Mrs. C had a stroke and is now in a wheelchair.
When nurses asked Mr. C if they were familiar with Christmas for the Elderly, he offered to make a contribution. The nurses, who know the couple can't afford any luxuries, explained that perhaps someone could help them this year.
The gift that would help Mr. and Mrs. C most is a cordless telephone. In her wheelchair Mrs. C can't get around as fast as she used to and neither can Mr. C, who is in his 80s.
The Cs are a religious couple and enjoy reading religious books. He has a Bible, but other books would make nice gifts. The couple also needs new cooking pans and Mr. C would like to try a non-stick skillet. He would also like a footstool.
Mrs. C would like new snap-front dusters, size 15 1/2. She would also like some perfume and hand lotion. Mr. C would like a new flannel shirt, size 15-15 1/2. They need new towels and wash cloths and two wash pans.
They are a cheerful, loving couple who thank God for their years together and look forward to the years ahead. You can help them enjoy this Christmas with a donation to Christmas for the Elderly.
Gifts may be delivered to the Southeast Missourian at 301 Broadway or the Cape Girardeau County Health Department, 1121 Linden.
